Partially removable prosthesis
In the case of partially removable prosthesis there are not enough natural teeth for a fixed restoration, so partial plate prosthesis is used. In this case the resulting toothwork takes up more space in the mouth than the natural teeth as it covers the palate and recovers lost bone.
Parts of partially removable prosthesis:
- Base plate – Serves to support the denture and to unify the teeth the artificial gums and the anchoring. Possible materials: metal, plastic or the combination of these.
- Denture – possible materials: plastic, porcelain or metal.
- Arftificial gingiva – Unifies the teeth and fixes them to the plate, Materials: plastic, colour of the gums.
- Fixing instruments – different clasps, prefabricated fixing materials, instruments to prevent tilting, occlusal surface supports.
Steps of preparing a partially removable prosthesis:
As a first step a temporary denture is made on the basis of an impression. We check the stability of the plate, the teeth, the artificial gums, the jaws and the aesthetic effect. In this phase we can still modify the prosthesis according to your needs. Your satisfaction is a priority to us.
As the use of a new denture may be difficult at the beginning, we teach you this on receiving your new prosthesis.
Complete denture prosthesis
When all the teeth are missing the most common solution is complete denture prosthesis. In this case we have to make up not only for the teeth but also the gums. The denture is made of a special plastic, often combine with metal parts.
Parts of complete denture prosthesis:
- base plate
- artificial gingiva
- denture
In the case of complete denture prosthesis, we have to consider several factors, such as how long the patient lost his teeth, the state of the oral cavity, or if the patient used a denture before.
Overdenture
Overdenture is also a complete denture prosthesis, but in this case it is fixed to the jaw by implants. In such cases, instead of crown a special rail is placed on the implant. The denture has to be patented to it to ensure stability.
The overdenture is fixed in such a manner that you ca remove it, or replace it any time by yourself.
This method is used especially on the lower jaw, where it is more difficult to reach stability. Several factors are considered, as not any jaw is proper for implants.
